The old saying "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT" holds true for dogs just as for people.  Sure, there are some people who can drink excessively, smoke like a chimney, and eat only junk food and they live a long and healthy life.  But for most of us, that wouldn't work very well.  It's the same with dogs.  Yes, there are some dogs who can eat the cheapest, grossest kibble out there and do well.
